Clearance in Australia

• Free TV channels - clearance is required and there is a fee associated.

• Pay TV channels - clearance is not required.

• Cinema Advertising – clearance is not required

• OOH – Out of Home Advertising – clearance is not required – see checklist first. Must follow AANA Code of Ethics, found here: http://aana.com.au/self-regulation/codes/

• Radio - Australian Radio advertising is usually cleared in house at the broadcasters but you can go via your Media Buyers if you wish for material to be checked up front before supplying.

To summarise some key points of the classification process:

• All classifications start with an online submission via the ClearAds website.

• Scripts are needed for the submissions and must include all audio/visual content of the TVC and substantiation for any claims.

• Classification for TVCs typically requires 2 working days.

• Audio and video can be submitted to Clearads via Peach by selecting the destination ClearAds. For Australian accounts, all deliveries to ClearAds are treated as the fastest send with the cheapest charge (e.g. sent as an Immediate delivery with the fee of a Standard delivery) which lands on ClearAds FTP.

• ClearAds numbers, once issued, last for two years. After that time, key numbers must be re-classified.

• Pre-clearance is possible but not mandatory.
